HOA community management

What is HOA community management?

HOA community management is the process of handling day-to-day operations of a homeowners association or similar community association. Common tasks include bookkeeping and accounting, payment of bills and receipt of funds, management of violations and penalties, landscaping and other maintenance, trash removal, and snow removal. The HOA’s board can carry out such management with the assistance of job-specific contractors, part-time employees, and HOA-specific computer software or can be contracted in full to a property/association management company, with cost and available time being the major considerations between self-management and contracted professional management. HOA boards often find HOA-specific management software greatly decreases the time required for self-management.

Why is HOA community management important?

Community management is the primary reason homeowners associations exist, with the dual aims of maintaining homeowners’ quality of life and protecting and enhancing property values. Such management consists of communicating and enforcing agreed-upon standards for architecture and maintenance, promoting neighborhood connections, adhering to legal requirements for HOAs, and all the administrative and clerical tasks that facilitate those purposes.
